-------------------------- The strength of the Nimmo Brothers is not only their accomplished performances, but also the quality of their own material . . you don't have to be a blues fan to enjoy the Nimmo Brothers but if you are it's heaven

----------------------------------------- When searching the world over for the finest blues and blues/rock artists, it certainly helps to have eyes and ears in a lot of different areas. I am always thankful for the many tips I get from all across the world via e-mail and I am blessed to have several invaluable overseas contacts. Two of my best eyes and ears belong to my dear friend Billy J. in Scotland, who has directed me to a number of excellent artists. Some time back, in the mail, I received from Billy the CD "Coming Your Way" from the Nimmo Brothers, and once again my Scottish friend was right on the mark with his recommendation.
The Nimmo Brothers (unlike the Doobies) are truly both named Nimmo and actually brothers. The Scottish born Alan and Stevie share not only DNA, but also guitar and vocal duties on their very fine debut recording on the UK Armadillo Music label. Their sound is in ways a bit reminiscent of the great (but now sadly defunct) UK band The Hoax, however they are considerably more blues flavored. The brothers are not only gifted guitarists and vocalists, the are prolific song writers as well, as all 10 tracks on this CD are Nimmo Brothers' originals. Their rhythm section of Sam Firth on bass and Mark Barrett on drums is talented and fits perfectly with their style. The CD is well engineered and quite enjoyable from start to finish.
------------------------------------------- Alan and Stevie Nimmo are two of the most exciting, young, modern blues guitarists on the European circuit. Drawing their influences from the blues boom of the 1960s, they learned their trade by listening to such greats as Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac and John Mayalls Bluesbreakers. The Nimmo Brothers emerged as a band from the Blackwater Blues band in the late 1990s, with a first album (Moving On) that yielded a number of strong tracks - many of which are still requested by fans today. Signed by Armadillo Music following the Moving On album, the brothers combine a passion for live performance and showmanship with a desire to write good songs. "Coming Your Way", the first release on their new label, catapulted them to the forefront of the European blues scene, with top billing at many of the European festivals and support slots for many of the blues greats. In 2003 it was time for a change of pace and the brothers achieved this by recording their first acoustic album "New Moon over Memphis". A beautiful and highly emotional recording which focused on the incredible vocal and song writing talents of Stevie and Alan.
